MINISTER HENRY RECEIVES DIPLOMATS

Minister L. Michael Henry continued his hectic schedule of activities as a number of foreign diplomats paid courtesy calls on him recently.

On Tuesday, October 9, a delegation from St. Kitts, led by that country's Minister of Transport and Works, Roberto Hector, called on the Minister. Accompanying Minister Hector, were Mr. Michael Archer and Mr. Leslie Chang of the Incorporated Masterbuilders Association of Jamaica and Surrey Paving Construction Co. Ltd. respectively. Both Ministers used the opportunity to discuss among other things, infrastructural development in St. Kitts. Other members of his party were Mr. Eustace Nisbett, Manager, Houisng and Land Development and Mr. Patrice Nisbett, Legal Adviser and Federal Representative.

Later that day, Argentine Ambassador to Jamaica, Mr. Mario Jose Pino called on Minister Henry. He congratulated Minister Henry on his new appointment and pledged his government's support for programmes within the Ministry. Some of the areas discussed between both men included Segment Two of the North Coast Highway (the contractor of which was an Argentine company, Jose Cartellone) as well as collaborations with respect to the Port Authority of Jamaica and the
Argentine Ministry responsible for that area of operations.
Wednesday, October 10 was the turn of the Spanish Ambassador, Mr. Jesus Silva to call on Minister Henry. Accompanying him was Mr. Fernando Bosque, head of MBJ Airports Ltd, one of the entities in Jamaica with Spanish connections.
Various matters came in for mention during the discussions between Messrs. Henry and Silva. Among them were the 'Open Skies Agreement', tour operators and the linkage with charter flights as well as the development of infrastructure. Mr. Bosque also gave an update of operations at the Sangster International Airport as it related to expansion works taking place there. He noted that he was satisfied with the progress of the works.
