Speaking at the signing ceremony, Minister Mike Henry said,
‘with today’s signing we have moved further towards bringing the state of our
public road and drainage network back from the extremely bad state which Gustav
left them in.”
He noted that under normal circumstances such works would not
be done in the busy Christmas season but that the suffering and inconvenience
caused by the bad roads in many communities meant that once the hurricane season
ended on November 30, efforts had to be made to get the repairs underway.
“So, Christmas or no Christmas, New Year or no New Year, the
work is going to be undertaken so that much needed relief will be brought to the
affected communities,” he continued.
He urged community members to co-operate so that there would be
smooth implementation of the work programmes
