JUTC/JOSE MARTI HIGH SCHOOL IN TRANSPORTATION AGREEMENT

Principal, Mr. Bevan Moodie, being interviewed at the inauguration of the bus service at Jose’ Marti High School.
The Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) and the Jose’ Marti Technical
High School in St. Catherine recently entered into an agreement whereby the JUTC
will provide dedicated transportation for students from that institution to
destinations in St. Catherine and the Corporate Area.
The service started on Wednesday, October 15 with three buses leaving the
institution for Portmore and Spanish Town. One going to Half Way Tree was also
being considered. Many students could be seen boarding the buses for the various
destinations on the inaugural journey. geared to saving the lives of our students as this dedicated service will mean that they will avoid taking other means of transportation which will expose them to unsavoury elements such as loud and derogatory music and dangerous driving,” he explained.
Students also gave a stamp of approval to the initiative as well. They noted that it was a very good move and that the dedicated transport would help them to get home safely and on time.
The initiative is the brainchild of officials from the JUTC who, when travelling in the vicinity of the Jose’ Marti’ school, have noticed that the students experience difficulties in accessing transportation to their various locations. Consequently, an approach was made to the school. Following discussions, the bus service was the result.
