The component of the project included: -
a) Marina
- Building including shops, office, toilet, etc.
- External works, including roads, carports, etc.
b) Boatyards
- Building including office space, stores toilet
etc.
- External works including guard house, sewage disposal
landscaping etc.
c) Renovations and extension to existing Ken Wright Pier
facilities
d) Board walk
e) Land Reclamation and shore protection
f) Roadworks
g) Relocation of National Works Agency Area Office
h) Police Post
Financing
The project was financed by the Port Authority of Jamaica
through a loan from the Danish Export Credit Agency – Eksport Kredit
Fonden.
Loan Amount
- US$9,775,000.00
Loan Period
- 10 years plus disbursement period
Contractor
The Port Authority’s Consultants Wallace Evans (Ja.)
Ltd., Alberga Graham Jamaica and Goldson Barrett Johnson recommended that
the Contract be awarded to E. Pihl and Son A.S. in the sum of United States
Nine Million, Three Hundred and Thirty Six Thousand, Eight Hundred and
Sixty Eight Dollars (US$9,336,868.00). The contract commenced on
July 16, 2001 and the completion date was set for July 22, 2002.
The Port Antonio Marina was officially opened on September
12, 2002.
